If CPAP hasn’t worked for you, you’re not out of options. Clinically proven to treat mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea, the ApneaRx mouthpiece offers a comfortable, low-profile alternative to traditional CPAP therapy. It’s an easy-to-use mandibular advancement device (MAD) that works by gently bringing the lower jaw forward to open up the airway.

Professional-grade sleep apnea mouthpieces generally cost thousands of dollars and require a fitting carried out by a dentist. If you’re not sure whether a MAD is right for you, the ApneaRx is a low-risk way to try out this sleep apnea treatment method. Its boil-and-bite design makes it easy to customize the fit at home, and it’s adjustable in one-milimeter increments to maintain comfort and reduce jaw pain.

Product Specs

  • Materials: BPA-free and latex-free dental-grade soft polymer
  • Construction: no screws, springs, or other metal parts
  • Size: adjustable up to 10 mm in 1-mm increments

Key Benefits

  • Accessible: ApneaRx doesn’t require a costly dentist fitting or an overnight sleep study, and you can start using it right away.
  • Safe for Mouth Breathers: This mouthpiece doesn’t restrict breathing through the mouth or nose, so you can breathe easily, even if your nose is blocked.
  • Gentle Fit: Made from a soft polymer that’s gentle on the teeth, ApneaRx allows for small adjustments to protect against fixing your jaw in place.
  • Customizable: The mouthpiece molds to the shape of your teeth, and you can make ongoing adjustments to the jaw position.
  • Easy Setup: ApneaRx uses a “boil-and-bite” method that takes less than 10 minutes, and you’ll only have to do it once.
  • Convenient: There are fewer parts to change and clean compared with CPAP therapy.
  • Portable: The ApneaRx is a compact device that doesn’t require electricity, batteries, or water, making it ideal for travel.

Covered Under Some Insurance Plans: The ApneaRx uses Medicare code E0485 (prefabricated oral appliances) and may be eligible for reimbursement under private insurance plans.

  • CPAP users who want a temporary sleep apnea solution while on the road

How It Works

The ApneaRx is a mandibular advancement device consisting of two connected trays — one for the upper teeth and one for the lower teeth. Worn while you sleep, it widens the airway by moving the lower jaw forward, helping prevent snoring and sleep apnea symptoms. The ApneaRx is most effective when you’re sleeping on your side or stomach.

You’ll need a prescription to purchase the ApneaRx, which you can request through Sleep Doctor if you don’t have one already.

How to Use It

Before using your ApneaRx mouthpiece for the first time, you’ll need to fit it to your teeth. Boil the mouthpiece to soften the plastic, dip it briefly in cool water, and then insert it in your mouth and bite down to create a perfect mold of your teeth.

Start by wearing the mouthpiece at the preset position of 3 millimeters for several hours a day for a few days to get used to it. Then, you can start wearing it while you sleep. While most people use the 3-millimeter or 4-millimeter setting, you can customize by moving the lower tray backward or forward.

Easy process, and slept so well after

I tried them for the first time after getting my impressions set to the mouth guards. I put them on and knocked out right after with little to no snoring last night.

Device purchased to address severe snoring.

Still early days, but seems to be improving the issue. Takes some patience getting used to.

    Review week 2

It works great on both side sleeping. The back and the stomach sleeping causes snoring. I will take it over the C PAP

    Good but not perfect

Overall I am very pleased with the ApneaRX Mouthpiece

As a former CPAP User I enjoy using this Oral Appliance but I have one major concern - this appliance doesn’t quite fit as well as I would like

In the 5 days since I received this it’s helped me get better nights sleep pretty much every night I’ve used it but it feels like its a little too tight

    Works well, but bulky

Works well compared to other boil and bite apnea appliances. Snoring stopped completely with the 3mm advancement setting compared to 10mm on another mad device. Very easy to mold, and device is soft on teeth, especially with bruxism concerns. The only caution is for people with small/narrow palates. It’s very bulky and you can’t compress it. I can barely get it in my mouth, am unable to close my lips fully, and it shredded the inside of my cheek due to width.
